Compassionate Science
Planning to become a civil engineer, if I were to become a compassionate scientist, I would first tackle the worlds problem of homelessness. Since I am currently living in Los Angeles, there is a plethora of homeless people who wonder the streets everyday, struggling to make it to the next. As a compassionate civil engineer, I would plan to create complexes so that these homeless people could live in. They might not be huge luxurious, multi-storied homes, but they would provide shelter from the elements. In addition to providing a shelter for those who do not have one, I will be also removing the homeless people from the streets, greatly benefitting the city. However, in other parts of the world, people do have homes; however, they are make shift shacks or huts that provide little to no protection whatsoever. To make matters worse, these people live in areas where there is an immense heat or heavy showers. In order to increase their lifespan I would design buildings in those areas that are able to withstand the harsh conditions.
